The purpose of the class will be to present the appropriate information, test student knowledge of the material presented and evaluate the student's proficiency in safely firing a handgun. Each student who successfully completes the class, will be certified as competent to carry a concealed handgun. This certification can be presented to the appropriate agency in an application for a concealed handgun license.

• The format of the class is informal lecture and questions are welcome.
• Most of the morning will be lecture/discussion focusing on:
  • Handgun safety.
  • Types of handguns.
  • Handgun components.
  • Proper operation.
  • Care of handguns.
  • Selection of the appropriate handgun.
  • Handgun ammunition.
  • Tactical and practical considerations in carrying a concealed weapon.
• There will be a break during the lecture.
• The class may also include video presentations.
• After lunch, legal aspects of concealed carry and specific state regulations and laws will be presented
• Upon completion of the lecture/discussion section, a test will be given.
• The class will then move to the gun range where students will shoot with a partner at paper targets. Safety is of the utmost importance and students will be evaluated on their conduct, ability to follow directions, and proficiency in safely firing their handgun.

  • Please do NOT bring your handgun and/or ammunition into the classroom.
  • Please arrive promptly.
  • All classes are videoed to provide a record of your participation in the class.
  • You will receive printed materials including information regarding concealed carry laws and state reciprocity.
